Warning Signs Of Anorexia Nervosa


It is important to watch out for warning signs of anorexia nervosa. As I said already, anorexia nervosa is an illness and must be treated. It has high mortality rate, almost 10% die in the first 10 years. Do not take this easily.

Anorexia nervosa is assumed to be a mental illness which may also (or not) be triggered by some physical causes. It is still unknown. True is that anorexia nervosa effects you negatively.

Simply spoken, anorexia nervosa is an eating habit which went out of control. Some of the signs of anorexia nervosa are that you continue to diet although you are heavily underweight already. There is nothing glorious about this. Being thin or slim is beautiful in my opinion, but being bony skeleton is awful. It is simply harmful and bad for your health. Such signs are a big red warning light.

The problem with this is that a person who suffers from this kind of anorexia often does not believe that he or she lost control. That's why it is so dangerous. The person just continues to eat less until they finally die. Why are they doing this? Because of focusing obsessively on their body shape and weight their mind has established a picture of an ideal body but in reality the person has lost objectivity. Although this person has reached the goal of a slim and healthy body long ago already, he or she still believes to be fat and overweight.

They are so obsessive about it that the other signs of anorexia nervosa are the abuse of drugs and other techniques to loose weight like intentional vomiting to a degree where purging becomes normal after each meal. Serious malnutrition and organ malfunction is the result.

More signs are that the person usually is depressive, always stating to be too fat and has no energy for anything. Hair loss can be another sign with pale dry skin.

Again, this person has lost control already and needs your help before it is too late. For you as a healthy slim-body-admirer who has control over what you are doing, it is easy to determine if you are on the right way or not. First you can simply calculate your BMI (body mass index) which tells you what weight you should have on average. You can always deduct a few pounds/kilos from this number without coming into a dangerous area of malnutrition.

There is another simple method to find out if you are doing ok. Just ask yourself if you are happy with your life, your body and what you have achieved or want to achieve. Do you feel good about what you are doing? There can be many signs of anorexia nervosa, happiness and satisfaction are none of them. This may sound simple but that is the secret of many things. Keep it simple. Do not complicated stuff. Do not get obsessive.
